Trail Report

March 14, 2009

Hi Folks:

Our grooming staff was ot at the Massie Trail today and sends back this report:

"Out on the trails today, just checking them out, rough up the trails, not enough snow to set tracks, but still 8 inch base. If you're skiing this weekend go early in the morning. The groomer and skidoo are away for the season and the trails will be considered closed after this weekend. The base is good and the hills will be fast. Some water and wet spots to watch out for and I removed all the trees from our windy day of the past week."

I hope you all enjoyed the season and got out as much as possible. I always find the season goes too fast and I can never get out enough.

We will follow up with a newsletter in the spring to update you on our progress to date.

Thank you all for your membership and participation.

A special thanks to the volunteer grooming staff who did such a great job on the trails this year.

Chris

Note: There was some limited skiing between Feb 11 and March 14. You had to pick your days that were good.

February 11, 2009
Warm and Rain - Trails are in BAD shape - we lost 90% of our snow "AGAIN"

February 7, 2009
Warm - We are having another though. Trails are in good shape with spring conditions. They are skiable during the though as long as the rain holds off. When the freeze comes do not ski down any of the hills until we get some new snow. The bypass trail and blue loop can be skied under icy conditions with only a small amount of new snow. Extreme care should be taken under these conditions

January 30, 2009
Cool - Trails are groomed and in GREAT shape. This might be one of the best weekends of the season, not real cold with lots of snow.

January 16, 2009
Cold - Our intrepid volunteers were out braving the cold this afternoon to groom the trails so they should be in good shape for Saturday

January 9, 2009
Cold - Here is the latest word on the trails from our dedicated groomers: "All the trails will be groomed by noon on Saturday, I checked out the culvert and we can get by."

January 8, 2009
Cold - Here's the latest from trails. Looks like it should be a good weekend, just remember to use the main entrance.
"The crew was out today and everything is groomed except the part on the north blue trail because of flooding at the culvert."

Jan 2, 2009
Here is the latest update from the field: "All the trees are off of the groomed parts of the trail. The north entrance isn't done as the river is flooding at the culvert. The yellow south part is not done because of lack of snow. We need 6 to 8 inches to make things a lot better. There are some bare spots so use your old skis."

December 28, 2008
Warm - Rain on the 27th, warm on 28th = 90% of snow is gone "again" - Note: Trail was good from the 20th to 26th - most of the base might make it until it gets cold again

December 20, 2008
Snow - Trails do have snow again - some ice - there is a good base - no report from groomer

December 15, 2008
RAIN - Trails are not good - there is a good base - we require 6" of snow
